4. Kukhazikitsa
4.1. Assembly of the S30 Laser Engraver
Refer to the included "Step 1-6 Installation package" and the S30 user manual for detailed assembly instructions. Ensure all screws are tightened and connections are secure. The assembly typically involves:
- Assembling the X and Y profiles to form the frame.
- Mounting the control box assembly and support feet.
- Installing the X-axis assembly and laser module.
- Connecting the limit switches and wiring.
- Attaching the air pump and air pipe.
4.2. Connecting the TS1 Touch Screen
The TS1 touch screen connects to the S30 laser engraver via a USB cable. Plug one end of the USB cable into the S30 control box and the other end into the TS1. Connect the TS1 to its power adapter and plug it into a power outlet.
4.3. Kuyika mapulogalamu
For computer-controlled operation, install LightBurn or LaserGRBL software on your Windows or MAC system. Follow the software's installation guide. Ensure your computer's USB drivers are up-to-date for proper communication with the engraver.

5.1. Kukonzekera Zinthu Zakuthupi
Place the material to be engraved or cut on the metal backing plate within the engraving area. Ensure the material is flat and securely positioned to prevent movement during operation. For optimal results, use the provided A4 metal backing plate.
5.2. Kuyang'ana Laser
The S30 features a fixed focus column and sliding device for focusing. Adjust the laser module's height until the focus column touches the material surface. This sets the optimal focal distance for the 0.06x0.06mm laser spot.
5.3. Automatic Air Assist Operation
The S30 is equipped with an automatic air assist system. This system can be controlled via the M8 command in LightBurn software. Air assist significantly improves cutting performance by clearing debris and reducing charring.

Image 5.2: A visual comparison illustrating the benefits of automatic air assist over manual air pump control, showing cleaner cuts and edges with automatic control.
For engraving, air assist is typically turned OFF to achieve finer detail. For cutting, air assist is turned ON to increase cutting speed and produce cleaner edges.
5.4. Engraving and Cutting Materials
The S30 can engrave on a variety of materials including wood (walnut, cherry, MDF), bamboo, cardboard, plastic, leather, PCB board, aluminum oxide, 304 stainless steel, ceramic, and dark stone. It can cut materials such as wood, MDF, acrylic board, cardboard, non-woven fabric, bamboo sheets, leather, and some plastic boards.
5.5. Using the TS1 Touch Screen for Offline Control and WiFi
The TS1 touch screen enables offline operation and WiFi connectivity.
- Offline Engraving: Save your engraving files to the provided SD card. Insert the SD card into the TS1. You can then select and initiate engraving jobs directly from the touch screen without a computer connection.
- Kulumikizana kwa WiFi: The TS1 provides WiFi capabilities to the S30. When connected to WiFi, you can use the SCULPFUN mobile application to control the engraver and create designs in real-time from your smartphone or tablet.
