1. Mawu Oyamba

The StarTech.com RKCONS1901 is a 1U rack-mount KVM console designed to provide complete keyboard, monitor, and mouse control for a single server or multiple servers when connected through a separate KVM switch (sold separately). This space-efficient solution features a built-in 19-inch LCD display, a full keyboard, and a touchpad, all housed within a durable steel drawer that slides into 1U of rack space.

Follow these steps to properly install your StarTech.com RKCONS1901 KVM Console into a server rack and connect it to your equipment.

3.1 Kuyika kwa Rack

The KVM console is designed to fit into a standard 1U rack space. Ensure your rack has sufficient depth and mounting points.

  1. Slide the KVM console into the desired 1U rack space.
  2. Secure the console to the rack using the provided M5 cage nuts and M5 screws. Ensure both sides are firmly attached to prevent movement.

3.2 Kulumikiza Zingwe

Connect the necessary cables to the rear of the KVM console and your server or KVM switch.

  1. Connect the provided 6 ft [1.8 m] KVM cable to the single port on the rear of the KVM console.
  2. Connect the other end of the KVM cable to the VGA and USB ports of your server or KVM switch.
  3. Connect the power cable to the KVM console and a power outlet.

4. Malangizo Ogwiritsira Ntchito

Once installed and connected, the KVM console is ready for operation.

4.1 Opening and Closing the Console

  1. To open the console, pull the handle to slide the drawer out of the rack.
  2. Lift the LCD panel to an upright position.
  3. To close, fold down the LCD panel and push the drawer back into the rack until it locks securely.

4.2 Kugwiritsa Ntchito Kiyibodi ndi Touchpad

The integrated keyboard features 99 keys, including a numeric keypad, and the touchpad provides intuitive cursor control.

4.3 OSD Menyu Navigation

The On-Screen Display (OSD) menu allows you to adjust monitor settings such as brightness, contrast, and color. Use the buttons located below the LCD panel to navigate the OSD menu.

5. Kusamalira

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KVM console, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Kuyeretsa: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the LCD screen and exterior surfaces. For stubborn marks, dampen the cloth with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the console.
  • Mpweya wabwino: Ensure proper airflow around the console. Do not block ventilation openings.
  • Kuwongolera Ma Chingwe: Keep cables neatly organized to prevent damage and ensure smooth operation of the sliding drawer.
  • Zachilengedwe: Operate the console within the specified temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius.

6. Mavuto

If you encounter issues with your KVM console, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Palibe Chiwonetsero: Check all video cable connections. Ensure the server or KVM switch is powered on and outputting a video signal. Verify the console's power adapter is securely connected.
  • Kiyibodi/Mouse Sakuyankha: Check all USB cable connections. Ensure the server or KVM switch recognizes the USB devices. Try connecting the KVM cable to a different USB port on the server/switch.
  • Console Not Sliding Smoothly: Inspect the slide rails for any obstructions or damage. Ensure the rack mounting screws are not overtightened, which could impede movement.
  • Incorrect Display Resolution: Access the OSD menu to adjust display settings. Ensure your server's video output is configured to a resolution supported by the 19-inch LCD (up to 1280x1024).
