4.1 Wiring Diagram Overview

The switch requires Line (Hot), Load, Neutral, and Ground connections. For 3-way installations, an auxiliary switch (e.g., GE 45610) and a traveler wire are also required.

4.2 Njira zoyika

  1. Zimitsani Mphamvu: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse that supplies power to the switch box. Turn it OFF completely. Verify power is off using a voltagndi tester.
  2. Chotsani Kusintha Kwaposachedwa: Carefully remove the wallplate and unscrew the existing switch from the wall box. Disconnect the wires from the old switch, noting which wire was connected to which terminal. It is recommended to label the wires (Line, Load, Neutral, Ground, Traveler if applicable).

    • Line (Hot): Connects to the electrical panel, providing power.
    • Katundu: Connects to the light fixture or fan.
    • Wosalowerera ndale: Typically white, required for the switch to operate.

    • Traveler (for 3-way): Connects to the auxiliary switch.
  4. Wire the Z-Wave Switch: Connect the wires to the GE Z-Wave switch terminals as follows:
    • Ground Waya: Connect to the green GROUND terminal.

    • Line (Hot) Wire: Connect to the black LINE terminal.
    • Katundu Waya: Connect to the black LOAD terminal.
    • Traveler Wire (if 3-way): Connect to the red TRAVELER terminal. Cap off the traveler wire if not used.
  5. Mount the Switch: Carefully fold the wires and push the switch into the wall box. Secure the switch with the provided screws.
  6. Install Wallplate: Attach the new wallplate (not included) over the switch.

To remove the switch from your Z-Wave network:

  1. Place your Z-Wave controller into exclusion (unpairing) mode. Refer to your controller's instruction manual for specific steps.
  2. Once the controller is in exclusion mode, quickly tap the top or bottom of the rocker switch once. The LED indicator on the switch may flash to confirm exclusion.
  3. The controller will confirm successful exclusion. The switch is now removed from your Z-Wave network.
