Sequential read/write rates for the 970 EVO Plus are up to 3,500/3,300 MB/s, which is up to 53% quicker than the 970 EVO. The most recent V-NAND, offers improved firmware, a tried-and-true internal controller, and an intelligent turbo write boost. This technology improves NAND performance and power efficiency.

Samsung’s SSD 970 EVO Plus is a great option for installation in a gaming rig or high-end PC update because it is less expensive and just as competent as its predecessor.
The 970 EVO Plus easily earns our recommendation because it is one of the quickest SSDs we’ve evaluated overall. The 970 EVO is a great drive and definitely merits your attention, even though at the time of publication it didn’t quite beat the competition and make our list of the best SSDs.
Samsung claims that the 970 Evo Plus should only use 30 mW while inactive, increasing to 5 W for the 250 GB device and 6 W for the 1-TB variant when under stress. For reading data, the SSD should use between 5 and 5.5 W.
The Final Verdict. The Samsung SSD 870 EVO provides the highest level of Serial ATA SSD performance and performs 4K random read and write operations so quickly that it might almost be mistaken for PCI Express 3.0.

I am aware that my 970 evo (nonplus) runs really hot. In order to cool it down, I added a side intake fan in my case. In comparison, the 980 pro is significantly cooler.
The 970 EVO lacks support for RAPID Mode, which is exclusively available in SATA drives, just like other Samsung NVMe drives.
