Operating a chainsaw can be dangerous. Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before using this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.

General Safety Precautions

2. Zamalonda Zathaview
The Troy-Bilt TB4218 is a gas-powered chainsaw designed for cutting wood. It features a 42cc, full crank, 2-cycle engine and an 18-inch low-kickback bar and chain.

3. Kukhazikitsa
3.1 Fueling the Chainsaw
The TB4218 uses a 2-cycle engine and requires a specific fuel mixture. Use fresh unleaded gasoline mixed with the provided 2-cycle engine oil at the ratio specified in the engine manual (typically 50:1 or 40:1). Always mix fuel in a separate, approved fuel container.

- Clean the area around the fuel cap to prevent dirt from entering the fuel tank.

- Pour the pre-mixed fuel into the fuel tank, filling it to approximately 80% capacity. Do not overfill.

3.2 Kudzaza Chitsime cha Mafuta Cha Chain
The chainsaw features an adjustable, automatic bar and chain oiler. It is crucial to keep the oil reservoir filled with appropriate bar and chain oil to ensure proper lubrication and extend the life of the bar and chain.
- Onetsetsani kuti injini yazimitsa ndi yozizira.
- Clean the area around the oil cap.
- Carefully remove the oil cap.
- Fill the oil reservoir with quality bar and chain oil.
- Securely replace the oil cap.
3.3 Kusintha Kupsinjika kwa Unyolo
Correct chain tension is vital for safe and efficient operation. A new chain will stretch during the first few minutes of use and will require re-tensioning.

- Loosen the bar nuts slightly.
- Adjust the tensioning screw until the chain fits snugly against the guide bar, but can still be pulled around by hand without binding.
- Tighten the bar nuts securely.
- Zofunika: Recheck chain tension after the first 15 minutes of operation with a new chain, and periodically thereafter.
4. Malangizo Ogwiritsira Ntchito
4.1 Kuyambira Chainsaw
The TB4218 features SpringAssist® technology for easier pull starts.
- Ikani chainsaw pamalo olimba, ophwanyika.
- Kumanga unyolo brake.
- Set the choke to the FULL CHOKE position.
- Kanikizani babu yoyambira kangapo mpaka mafuta awonekere.
- Pull the starter rope firmly and smoothly until the engine attempts to start (usually a few pulls).
- Once the engine "pops" or attempts to start, move the choke to the HALF CHOKE position.
- Kokani chingwe choyambira kachiwiri mpaka injini itayamba.
- Once the engine runs, disengage the chain brake and allow it to warm up for a few seconds before use.
4.2 Njira Zodulira
Always maintain a stable stance and firm grip with both hands. Plan your cuts to avoid kickback and ensure the tree or limb falls safely.
- Kugwa: For felling trees, always make a notch cut first, followed by a felling cut from the opposite side.
- Kuvulala: Remove smaller branches first, working from the bottom up. Be aware of spring-loaded branches.
- Kuboola: Cut logs into shorter sections. Support the log to prevent pinching the bar.

4.3 Stopping the Chainsaw
To stop the engine, simply move the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position. Engage the chain brake immediately after stopping the engine.
5. Kusamalira
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your chainsaw. Always disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance.
5.1 Kunola Unyolo
A sharp chain is essential for safe and efficient cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull or damaged. Refer to the chain manufacturer's specifications for correct file kukula ndi ngodya zonolera.
5.2 Kuyeretsa Zosefera Zamlengalenga
Clean the air filter frequently, especially when working in dusty conditions. A clogged air filter can reduce engine performance and increase fuel consumption.

- Remove the air filter and clean it with warm, soapy water.

5.3 Spark Plug Inspection
Inspect the spark plug periodically. Clean or replace it if it is fouled, worn, or damaged. Ensure the correct spark plug gap is maintained.
5.4 Bar and Sprocket Maintenance
Keep the guide bar groove clean and free of debris. Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear. Inspect the drive sprocket for wear and replace if necessary.
